The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that starting in 2022, the National Identification Number (NIN) will be required for registration for its school certificate examination.
Mr. Patrick Areghan, WAEC's Head of National Office (HNO), announced this at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday.
With effect from 2022 and subsequent diets, the NIN will become a major requirement for registration for WASSCE for school candidates, according to the WAEC boss.
WAEC warns candidates and schools that late registration is no longer an option.
He stated, "There will be no NIN, no entry."
According to Areghan, all prospective candidates must register with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and obtain a National Identification Number (NIN).
He said the move was in line with the Federal Government's policy, which was directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.
”In accordance with the final international timetable, our WASSCE 2021 will begin on Monday, August 16 and will take place throughout the sub-region.
”However, the examination in Nigeria will end on September 30 after a seven-week period,” he said.
